Q: I can
not post a new listing - why ?
A: There may be 3 different reasons why you possibly
could not post a new listing.
1. Maybe you try to add photos to your listing
that are larger than 400 x 300 pixels each.
Our system currently only accepts photo size to a maximum of
400 x 300 pixles and if you try to upload larger ones, you will
get an error message. Please reduce the size of each of your
photos to max. 400 x 300 pixles.
2. Or Maybe you have registered as a "private home owner"
and already have 1(one) listing online. 1 (one) property is
the maximum you can list for free as a private home owner, so
you would need to open a new account and register this time
as a "property manager/agent" to list up to 20 properties
instead of only 1.
3. Or Maybe you have registered with Vacationhit.net
and have access to your account, however our system also requires
to validate your account before can post your very first listing.
Log in your account and click on "Manage Listing"
in the right member navigation. Then follow through by choosing
the "Free Listing" option and click on 'submit'. Now
your account is validated and you will see the amount of possible
listings you can post.

How can I post a new listing (property)
? Q: How I can
post a new listing ?
A: First of all you ned to register either as a "private
home owner" or as a "property manager / agent"
at our website here. Please remember that as a private home
owner you will be able to list only 1 (one) property at a time.
As a property manager/agent you are able to list up to 20 properties
at a time. So choose carefull from the beginning what account
type you register for.
Once you have registered, please log in with your username
and password and validate your account. You do this by choosing
the "Free Listing" option in your account under the
"Manage Listing" link. Once you have validated, you
are able to list your new property, add description and prices
and upload up to 10 photos with a mx. size of 400 x 300 pixels.

a listing by listing number
Q: Can I find a listing
using the listing number?
A: There is a direct link to each property in our database.
You are more than welcome to access your listings directly by
your listing id number. To easily find the id of each or your
listings, go to " Login" and select "Manage my account", first
typing your username into the box provided. If you forget your
username or password, you may obtain it by entering your email
address into the box "Send my username and password to me via
email" and clicking the button.
The URL for each listing will be
http://www.vacationhit.net/info.php?id=YourIDnumber
make sure to put your id number in place of YourIdNumber in
the above URL.
For example, if one of your properties is listing id #920, the
URL to your property would be:

A listings's id number will never change. And you do not need
to navigate to get there. Try putting it in the address box
of your browser to see that listing. Feel free to use the URL
any way you wish.

Can I offer monthly rentals
Q: I offer my property
only for monthly rental but can only list it with a weekly rental
price?
A: Our script works only with weekly rental fees at this
time but your still can list your property with a minimum rental
of 4 weeks = 1 month.
Please devide your monthly rental fee through 4 weeks and post
the weekly rental price in your listing. Then add in the property
description that you are only willing to rent your property
on a monthly bases only and that renters have to multiply the
posted weekly rental by 4 ..

Q: How do I modify or remove
my listing?
A: This is one of the best features of our site. You
have full access to your listings 24 hours a day. You can modify
any portion of your listing at any time, including the pictures.
You can even choose a new regional area / city to list in if
you feel the existing area is too specific or too general. Amazing
flexibility, and you control all of it. To make changes simply
click on "Login", enter your username in the "Manage Listing"
box and click the listing you want to edit. To change your listing
or any portion of it incl. photos, scrawl down and click on
edit. Make the changes to your listing as desired and then click
on submit when you are done. That's it - your listing will be
shown with the changes you have just made. If you wish to change
your contact information on your listing click the "Edit Profile"
located on the top left portion of the page.

A: If you forget your username or password, you may obtain

you enter is the same one you registered with.

Q: How do I change my username?
A: Usernames cannot be changed. The only possibility
is to open a new account with a different email address and
transfer your listings to the new account.

Last Minute listings
Q: What are Last Minute
listings?
A: The Last Minute category has a direct link from our
homepage and therefore a very preferred exposure within our
site. Last Minute listings receive 30% more hits than standard
listings and are aimed towards renters who are looking for special
last minute opening deals.
Private home owners can choose the Last Minute listing category
for their home on the property detail page. Last Minute listing
fees are US$ 4.95 for 1 (one) month compared to Standard listings
fees that are currently US$ 32.95 for 6 (six) months.
Only if your property availability has certain short notice
openings, we advise to use the "Last Minute" listing
category. Last Minute listings will be shown for exactly 1 month
and automatically deleted by our system.
If our review staff discovers that a private home owner or
agent are listing identical properties in the Last Minute category
for an ongoing time and unrelated to 'real' last minute openings,
our staff will manually change the property into the correct
standard listing category. Already paid "Last Minute"
listing fees will not be refunded.
Agents and property management companies can use the Last Minute
category for no extra charge, however we advise again to use
this category only for real existing last minute openings.
Agents and property management companies may switch their properties
from standard listing to last minute listing any time they wish
and thus are able to keep availability as current as possible.

Links to personal web sites
Q: Can I put my web page/link
on my listing?
A: At this point we are not sure how we are going to
handle direct links to owners web sites. It would be impossible
to evaluate our services if renters did not contact you through
our service. It is currently under evaluation, however we currently
do not accept or display links or email addresses on any listings.
If you get caught adding your own web address or email into
your listing, our review staff will delete your listing and
no listing fees will be refunded.

to my listing or do I have to navigate there every time?
A: Yes, there is a direct link to each property
you list. You are more than welcome to access your listings
directly by your listing id number. To easily find the id of
each or your listings, go to "Home Owners Login" and select
"Manage my account", first typing your username into the box
provided. If you forget your username or password, you may obtain
it by entering your email address into the box "Send my username
and password to me via email" and clicking the button.

Owners: Bounced Email
Q: I responded to an inquiry
from a renter and it bounced. Can you help me?
A: If a message is returned to you undelivered,
we cannot provide you with the correct address to contact the
person who sent the inquiry. Form based inquiries must ask the
sender to enter an email address. There is no way to verify
the validity of this address before sending the inquiry. It
is up to the sender to ensure the email address provided exists
and is typed in correctly. About 1 in 10,000 inquiries are undeliverable
due to spelling errors in the email address. Once in a while
it is possible to guess the address by checking for common misspellings
in the address (ex. Yahoo.con). vacationhit.net cannot locate
the correct address for undeliverable email address provided
by prospective renters.
If you find that emails are not being delivered to your email
address, first test your listing by navigating to your listing
and click "Send Email". Send yourself a test email just entering
"test" in the message box and an email address other than the
one you registered with in the "From" box. Enter the verification
word and click submit. Make sure the address you put in the
From box is not the same address you used to register with and
is a real address. Internet mail servers will not deliver email
if the From address is not a valid address. If you do not receive
the test email, check your inquiry box on Vacation Hit.net and
see if it is there. If it is, make sure you have not blocked
email from vacationhit.net via your spam controls on your email
box (AOL users can enter keyword "SPAM CONTROLS" to check this).

How do I view properties?
Q: How do I view properties?
A: To view a property, navigate to the area you are interested
in starting on our front page. A list of properties will be
shown along with several icons showing the most popular amenities
for each property. Rates are also shown by default. Clicking
the "Community" link will show the community/association for
each property, if it was provided by the owner.
Clicking any column heading will sort the list by that column.
To sort by community, you must first click "Community", then
click it again.
Once you find a property of interest, click the title of the
property to see the details for that property.

How do I inquire?
Q: How do I contact owners
to inquire about or reserve a property?
A: To inquire for availability, reserve the property,
or ask questions, you must contact the owner directly. This
can be done by clicking the "Click Here to Send Email" button
found on the property listing page under the "Vacation Rental
Owner/Manager" heading (See "How do I view properties?" in this
FAQ to find out how to view a property listing). Alternatively,
you may call an owner via telephone, if a phone number is shown.
Some property listing pages have an availability calendar that
can be viewed by clicking the "Check Availability" link above
the "Click Here to Send Email" button. If the link does not
appear, there is no calendar to view.

Can you re-size and upload photos
for me
Q: I have photos that seem
not work to upload. Can I email them to you and you re-size
and upload them to my listing ?
A: It is actually very easy to upload pictures
and photos. Since we offer currently a free service we have
limited the size for each photo to 400x300 pixels. Any larger
size will not work to upload. We also understand that some of
our users will have trouble to re-size their photos in case
they are larger and therefore we offer a very affordable 're-size
upload' service:
Email us your picture(s), we re-size and upload them to your
listing:
US$ 5.00 per picture / photo.
We accpept Paypal
for orders. Please make payment to Paypal address:
payments@iop.info
and add your listing ID number in the paypal payment detail
page.
We will contact you and you will respond with your photos you
want to have added.

Add or Change Photos
Q: How do I add photos
to my listing?
A: If you would like photos posted with your listing,
simply login and click on Manage Listing > Post new Listing
/ Edit Listing. There you can select the photos from your local
computer you wish to upload and store with your listing. You
can change the photos any time you wish, as often as you wish
as long you honor the maximum size allowed per photo. Please
remember that our system allows only a maximum size of 400 x
300 pixles per photo to upload.
If you only have prints you can mail a set to us along with
payment (paid listing only) and we will scan and post the photos
for you. Please contact us for thsi service.

Q: I can not upload my
photos, I always get an error message - why ?

Q: How do I make a payment?
A: Our online payment system is simple and easy to use.
To make a payment an owner must log in to their account and
click on "Manage Listings", which is located just on the left
navigation menu. Our online payment system allows an owner and
agent to select the listing package desired. Our payment system
is built to accept US or International credit cards through
2Checkout using your Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard/Mastercard,
WE DO NOT ACCEPT Discover, and American Express), we accept
checks, money orders through conventional mail, as well as Paypal
and Stormpay as online payment handlers. Paypal can be somewhat
of a pain to use as they have a very strict security system
setup. If you do decide to use paypal or stormpay, you need
to have a valid paypal or stormpay account before you attempt

Verifying payments
Q: How will I know when
my payment is processed?
A: By Check: If you pay by check, please allow
at least three weeks from the time it is mailed before it is
processed. Please do not contact us to inquire if payment has
been received within these 3 weeks. A notification by email
is sent after each payment is processed. If you do not receive
an email from us after 3 weeks, please contact us about the
payment.
By Credit Card or PayPal: If you pay by credit card or
Paypal your payment is usually processed immediately, but may
take up to 24 hours. To find out if your payment has been processed
please log in (using login at the top of this screen) and check
the status of "Manage listings". If you are able to
list a new property, your payment has been processed. You may
need to log out and log back in to see the changes, after you
paid through Paypal.

A: In order to make a payment by check, you must log

Q: What is your refund
policy?
A: Vacation Rentals. com is proud to offer our "100%
Risk Free Money Back Guarantee". If you are unsatisfied for
any reason, a complete refund for the full amount will be issued
up to 30 days after any payment is made. Vacation Rental listings
usually receive more bookings during the beginning of the listing
subscription due to more availability at that time. Seasonal
vacation rental markets in many areas also cause bookings to
concentrate in a limited timeframe. This usually happens at
the start of the subscription. For these reasons, Vacation Rentals
listing subscriptions were designed to allow owners to list
their property up to their selected subscription duration. Canceling
a subscription before the maximum duration does not result or
entitle the property owner to a refund for any unused listing
time. Acts of God or sale of a home do not take precedence over
the conditions above. No refunds are offered beyond 30 days

Suspicious email
Q: I received a suspicious
email, what do I do?
A: Usually emails with poor grammar, spelling, odd use
of capital letters and/or asking you to wire money or participate
in an unusual bank transaction is a scam. The sender is usually
attempting to obtain money, personal information or your email
address. We recommend that you let us know you received this
through our service and delete the message without responding.

Renter Overpayment scams
Q: What is a "Renter Overpayment
Scam"?
A: Scammers will send you an inquiry, which may seem
legitimate, but at some point suggest they send you more than
your rental fees and ask you wire back the difference. The check
they send you will be a fake, but usually takes the bank several
weeks to catch it. By then, you have wired the difference back
and will be unable to recover what you have sent. In some instances,
the bad check will even clear your bank initially. We suggest
you insist on exact payment, however, if you do accept an overpayment,
wait at least 30 days before returning any funds. If you receive
a suspicious inquiry mentioning that a third party (a business,
assistant, or someone who owes them money) is going to send
an overpayment, we recommend that you delete the inquiry without
